Hi,

you dont have to attach it to a jeep it also stands by it's self if I can find the pictures I will post them. My main tent is a kyham 4 man.

If I was starting out again I'd go for the Kyham range. A bit more expensive but VERY good, plus the poles stay with the tent so there is no messing about threading poles through sleeves, so they are very quick to pitch and take down.

Take a look at their range here http://www.khyam.co.uk/

Oddly enough I was looking at roof tents last night. The prices were a bit eyewatering!

Best I could find was £500 including delivery from Germany. The only snag is that I'd never heard of the brand, and obviously wouldn't be able to inspect it before buying. There's also the problem of finding a suitable roof rack - I'd want something demountable (so it doesn't do even more harm to the MPG on my commute) that clamped to the gutters rather than drilling through them. I know it's possible to get half length ones that bolt on over the back part of the roof (so I wouldn't have problems with it hitting the roof rails and might be able to use my custom waffle and shovel carrying roof bars) but I have no idea how long they are.

Those Auto Havens do look good, I had a brief look at the ex-army "Land Rover tent" but was put off by the price and the fact that it's a frame tent, which always take ages to assemble, weigh a ton and take up loads of room when folded.

Would be interested in seeing the pics you have, perhaps you could PM me.

Thanks Graham
