QT Diff Guard on 300tdi
« on: July 02, 2009, 22:34:41 »

Has anyone else fitted a rear QT diff guard to a 300tdi Disco with rubber coupling on the rear prop ?

I've just fitted mine and there is no clearance between the guard and the diff drive flange bolts - I
even had to turn one of the bolts slightly to stop the hex part of the bolt head touching the guard !!!

Anyone else experienced this ?

Sounds like you don't have the packer piece needed for fitting the guard to a 300 with the rubber rotoflex coupler - the 300 and 200 QT guards are identical other than the 300 uses a spacer plate that goes between the underside of the diff and the guard - you can probably pack it out with some penny washers to suit the bolts - needs to be about the same thickness of the metal for the guard, about 5 or 6mm from memory.

Hi Chris

Yes, I got the packer and put it on - it spins without catching at the moment but it so close it wouldn't take much for it to catch.

Looks like I might have to pack it out some more with washers - not the best design I think.

200 rear prop and diff flange cures the problem and no more rubber doofers to replace.
