« on: July 09, 2009, 08:27:11 »
As we seem to have a lot more "tatters" plying the streets again, has the price of scrap gone up?
Or are they just unemployed trying to make ends meet

If I go to the nearest scrapyard I can get £85 - £105 a tonne (depends on the day) and if I travel a little bit further afield and all the metal is clean (bare chassis's, old bumpers, ect) I can get up to £130 ish.

TBH that's not bad :-k

Last year some of my mates were buying cars form salvage auctions and weighing them in for a profit, but that was a spike in the demand as China stockpiled steel, £100 a tonne for mixed scrap sounds a good price on average.
