Engine Mounts 200tdi
« on: July 14, 2009, 13:53:45 »
I have a 200tdi in my 90.

I going over the whole car at the moment sorting any bits that I find along the way. I have noticed that the engine does transmit a lot of its vibration through the vehicle. It currently has standard (got them from paddocks about 4 years ago, don't know the manufacturer) 200tdi engine rubber mounts.

This got me thinking, if they used very hard rubber then they will transmit more vibration.

I was thinking of trying some others to see if they were any better. Can anyone recommend the best ones to use or know if this makes any difference?

First of all harder doesn't necessarily mean worse, there is an optimum.  I's possible that over 4 years they have got worse, or tat they weren't up to OEM spec in the first place but you should also consider the condition of thge gearbox mounts, these are just as important and often overlooked.

for what they cost, I might just have a go at changing all of them and see if it helps.
I thing the gear box ones will be over 10 years old !
