Frontera LWB Axle change
« on: July 28, 2009, 11:03:32 »
Hi, I have a 1996 P 2.2 Frontera with coil springs. One of the pinion bearings has gone in the rear diff, and rather than strip the axle and replace the bearing (a total of £149 from Vauxhall), I would replace the axle with a good one from a scrappers. Is this an easy enough job to do? I have a lot of mechanical experience, ie. aircraft and Land rovers!! If anyone has any tips, or how to guides, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. Craig

Swap both the front and rear axle for a 3.2 mk2 trooper. Straight swap pretty much and you'll have the benfit of bullet proof axles and potentially an LSD in the back end (look for either a duty or the g80 option code).
