As the title suggest..... Here is mine.
I'm not going to do a step by step installation as I personally think that if you don’t get the gist from the pictures then perhaps you shouldn't be attempting to make one of these.
You will need,
68mm drain pipe roughly 2 meters,
A variety of drainpipe bends, 65, 45, 90 are good ones to use.
I used a Land rover V8 air intake pipe and a Ford fiesta intake pipe (was a P reg shape but wasn't paying attention as to what reg it was.) You can use any rubber hose you like as I'm not going definitive with this.
I used a 70mm silicone 90degree bend and aluminium 70mm hose couple in my installation by with a little ingenuity you can go without these and use more drain pipe.
Air box
Original Land rover one used here, no need for a 200tdi in this installation. I sealed this pipe in with sealant chopped of the very end pipe that joins to the wing to enable me to get the silicone bend on to the pipe. Originally I cut this slightly too short and ended up bonding a small piece of down pipe to the land rover tube to extend it. I think that in a fluky way this ended up much better as I lost a small restriction within the pipe and the entire tube is now no smaller then 68mm all the way through.
Cut joined pieces are supported by the orange tape as well as glued.
Other side, you can see the the start of teh Ford tube here.
Ford tube
Please note the aluminium joiner I have used since installing has collapsed (not entirely). It has gone oval shaped but I think this is either due to the pressure between the wing and inner wing when I put everything back together or where my mates keep putting their hands over the intake and the entire think keeps sucking. You can see it all shrinking with the suction.
No awkward angles getting through the wing for me. I went through the original mocking up of the snorkel trying to get the downpipe down the windscreen into the wing but it just wasn’t happening hence the flexi. Works perfectly and looks the business.
Top bracket
Yes this is the cheap bracket from B & Q and I know its easy to brake as I have already done so however at £1.68 per bracket I would happily sacrifice the cheap bracket then many other things. I carry four of these brackets at the moment cause they are cheap and easily replaced.
Finished article
A variety of finishing tips.
Please note this is the mk 2 version of the snorkel. The original one was about 50mm shorter but I have brought 5 of the wrong cheap brackets as they are only wide enough to wrap around the downpipe and not the angle fixings so it’s all travelled up slightly until I can replace the bracket.
Top Tip: remember to connect the side repeater if you undo it as by the third time of forgetting it can get incredibly frustrating.
Oh and don’t forget to reattach the wing in every place
And install your indicator
