We have come down to Devon and Cornwall for the week in our 110. Been all the way down to Lands End and travelled 600 miles so far.
We have seen loads of other Landies some local some obviously on holiday like us, waved or flashed at most of them and only had about half a dozen wave back. :'(
where I come from in Cambridgeshire they nearly all wave back.
I think the Land Rover wave is a dying thing in the south West :'(.
loving all the driving though and loads of steep hills and stunning views.

I've found that if I'm in a standard Disco no one waves, if I'm in my 'off road Disco' some wave but have just bought a 1984 90 county (standard at the moment) & almost all wave !!! strange I know

PS:- when in the Freelander NO one waves

I wave at anything with a green oval or anything Jap if it's modded but I wave at young girls in soft tops but they just look at me weird.

I wave at anything modified, and sometimes get a response. Although as I'm only standard height I suspect mine doesn't appear on most people's radar!

I did once try waving at every Disco 1 I saw. You wouldn't believe how quickly you get bored with old people giving you funny looks...

You dont want to come round and fix my series while your here do you?

I cant say as Land rover waving never got as far as freelanders as they are too common/not landroverish enough and as the Series has not done any real miles in Cornwall.

But If you see a Balck freelander SE then WAVE youll either get one back from me or my Misses will give you a funny look.

Oh yes, and if you are heading home Saturday/Sunday up the A30 there is a big steam fair and vintage rally just off the roandabout to Truro http://www.weses.co.uk/

Usually lots of interesting stuff like tractors, landrovers, heavy recovery , stationary engines etc around but I have never been to that one.

We had a day out round Dartmoor today  we had a far better response
I must admit though I am limiting it to defenders and series and only obviously modded Disco's and Range/rovers.
Sorry but I'll only wave at a Freelander if they wave first
You can't miss me I unusually have twin snorkels on my 110 CSW

Nope not seen you out on the roads today. There is a nice 04 plate 110 with safari snorkel and winch running plasma rope / roof rack etc.. etc. That has been into the garage to fill up, and i saw it drive by today too.

The prob with the southwest is that there is a higher amount of working landys. So you will get lots of blank stares from mr and mrs we have two horse's, as they only have a landy to tow a trailer.
Said fact of life too is that although all these land rover owners say they wave at all land rovers Well they don't!  :^o I get far more waves when i am in the Series than when i am in the Discovery. and both hardly look like standard either

Be careful about comments about "POOR Farmers" its a dissapearing industry being regulated out of existence with the highest suicide rate of any job and the higest number of industry related deaths. Sorry if im being toucy, but I have gone to a lot of farm auctions and seeing how some old boys spent thier lives is a real wake up call.

Trouble is with so many Discovery being driven in town by women on school run,
you have to be careful who you wave at 8)

Ohh and to add to the list of those who don't wave and are miserable so n so's is a certain Mr Roger Young and his son. Have waved at both this week and no retort what so ever.  You would think the local main dealer who has an immaculate '48 Series one which he takes to shows would wave. Obviously not!

I drive a 90 for work and rarely get a waved at as it is obviously a works vehicle so don't bother waving to others. But as soon as I get in my 110 the waves come out

Although I have found that the Landy wave is almost like a game of chicken :-k If you clock each other from a distance you can see on each others faces that neither of us want to be crushed by rejection and leave it untill the last possible moment before waving. By then it is often too late to return the favour. Many a time I have missed my chance despite being a coiled spring ready to wave like a loon

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
