From a great book I've got on the maths of winching clicky but someone is taking the [throw it] with the price you need 1.2 times the weight of the vehicle to recover from being axle deep in clay.

A LOT of people who have 15K winches mounted to the front of 90's will disagree with this, but hey...

I've a 6K mounted to the front of a 2000kg jeep, and it's never failed to recover me. I also keep a couple of rated snatches in the back just in case.

Would a 2.5K be strong enough to recover a little suki?  I'd guess that yes it would. And if your REALLY stuck, a couple of 8K snatches would turn that 2.5 into 7K pretty quick.

i ran a 2500 on an sj for a while and as you say with the help of a snatch block it would recover, the only down side for me was the shortage of cable as it only carries 12 meters compared to 30 meters on most other 4x4 winches making it difficult sometimes to reach a recovery point especialy when using a snatch block, hope this helps.

I feel you are better off with a winch that has a capacity of twice the weight of your vehicle.
with out using a snatch block, the block can them be used if you get really stuck
This winch is normally used to winch things on to trailers, the drum drive is just made from Di cast and often fails, I would keep your money and save up for some thing better.
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it
