I got one of thease from ebay

pleaes be carefull. there are a few of these that test 9v , 12v and 20v I got the one that mesures anything up to 20v

draw round it and hack away with a stanly.

push it in and feed the wires round the back

there is just a basic 4 wire plug on the back. + and - in and + and - test

riged it up to the back of the lighter

I left a bit more wire on the + to make a switch on the dash for it.

also shows that the altinator is working :)

hope this may help someone

thanks

Like you say, it's handy to keep an eye on what's coming out of the alternator.  Might one day fit a circular one along with an oil pressure gauge.

A variation on the theme.....

I fitted two gauges to monitor the two batteries - about £5 each. I swapped the illimination to green LED bulbs to match the standard illumination. They are switched via relays so they switch off with the ignition. The downside to that is when the ignition is switched on, the voltages drops as circuits are activated - so the two black switches are "override" switches and allow a reading with the ignition off.

I also added a couple of aquarium temperature gauges - one for internal and one for external. They were about £4 each and are battery operated and not illuminated. I still need to tidy one of the wires.

I like the 2 round gauges mate top job. credit for takeing the time to change the led also they look cool, I was thinking of changeing the low fule warning led to a blue one so im never in the red again lol    Its best to have an over ride set up I think just incase you had an ignition problem and wanted to rule out a flat battery.
I think they are defanatly worth having given the price.

thanks

Ooh, I like that. Neat installation. Now I know where to install the volt and amp gauges :-)

Hi stretchy i've heard of some good reports about the meter your using from lads who have fitted them in their cars to monitor the voltage drops that their sound systems are causing ;)
Love where you have put your gauges auf_wiedersehen_pet :DI'm busy on the hunt for a disco at the min & have been wondering where I am going to mount my volt & turbo boost gauges so that could be high on the list ;)
I've been running a volt gauge in my motors for years after I killed a battery play my music for to long/loud. Since then I have notice when i'm loosing a cell in the battery due to the voltage dropping over night & when to alternators have started to play up.
I don't suffer insaity ! I enjoy it !!!
