Puzzled!!!
« on: September 09, 2009, 10:12:29 »
Hi, I started the disco this morning, no problem, got to work and parked up. Went back to the motor to move it and nothing, all lights work, radio, heater blower etc but that it. :-k There is a slight click when I turn the key coming from under the passenger side dash.
Has anyone else had this?. I was wondering if its a new starter or just a relay?

cheers
Kev

sounds like the relay is atleast kicking in for the solenoid. check all the connections on the back of the starter. you could check the starter with the old jumplead from the battery to the starter and see if it turns over. that atleast gives you some info.

Kev,

Give your starter a wack with a hammer of long bar while someone is turning the key, then you'll know if the starter is on its way out or might just need to remove it & cleen the spline as it could just be sticking

you might want to check the earth strap as i've had the same problem on some of the disco's i've owned in the past,
