I've owned my M plate 94 Defender for less than a week now and already done a load of jobs.
I've fitted a Mud console, Mud seat rails, Mud transmission tray, a cubby box, an Exmoor Trim leather gearstick gaitor, my wheels & tyres from the Disco, a double battery tray and a swing away wheel carrier
As it started

Then the modifications began

This is the very beginning of a new project/toy, there is loads more to come

Time for an update
I've been quite busy over the last few nights :D
White indicators

Painted the chassis legs

Painted the rear cross member

Fitted a D44 Clubman bumper, A bar, my Lightforce spots and a number plate bracket

Fitted a new number plate and a full size dog guard (floor to celling)

The modular wheels look great on a 110 so off off to order some and get rid of the alloys and wheel spacers.

I do prefer mushroom over the safari type and that mantec one looks sweet. One thing though, what's that one like as it goes thru the wing? Doesn't mate to the existing 300tdi defender crap does it or does it mate directly to a hose like a Safari ?

It uses the existing air intake and mate's up with it using some gaskets
Very simple to fit, took about an hour.
Plenty of silcone later and its water tight

in that case I'll keep the safari - already had a mushroom one that was like that (not mantec) and in my experience it was a troublesome arrangement :( RTV silicone doesn't stick to the plastic wing fitting for long. The original plastic wing box thing collapses and stays collapsed when vacuum testing the system for leaks. The original pipe that fits to that wing thing is only a push fit and the silicone didn't last long there either. I never had piece of mind with it, so was won over by the nice lengthened hose attached directly to the snorkel base with proper jubilee clips as per the safari kit.

edit: got them - fitted - my knee's let out a sigh of relief. Now to wear a new comfy elbow spot in the door trim.

I've been busy again.
I now have a LR badge, clock and accessory socket on my Mud dash

I've wired up the Lightforce now too

In a bid to make the inside more cool looking i have purchased a Td5 binacle

The main reason for change was to modernise the look. I don't like the dark early dash and the Td5 has lights in the heater ends as well as LED warning lights
After doing much research i purchased all the necessary parts (see link at bottom) and started
Here's the old dash out

Whilst bench testing the warning panel i (stupidly) got one of the wires wrong and blew a transister on the PCB and now only 1/2 works.
Fortunetly i can use the old one in the new dash until i find another late version

I've been preparing for the new seats by adjusting the middle seat frames
Here's the standard postition for the middle seats

I used a Exmoor Trim kit to move the seat backs back and up slightly. This allows you to sit further back which gives you more leg room

Fitting the kit

The kit is good but the intructions are a bit vague but you can't knock the results. Even with the Mud Rails fitted I now don't have my Son's knees in my back and he can sit more comfotably

You can't fit these kit with 3 man bench seats so removed mine from the boot in preperation for the store drawer and shelving i'm planning on fitting in there

The dog guard had to moved backwards by 5" too.
I have left enough room for the new rear seats that i'll be buying in the new year
I'm going to fit 3 of them in there (like this but with a matching middle seat)

I have also fitted the correct Td5 warning light panel in my dash :mrgreen:

I'm stock piling parts at the moment too for the big change around. I'm putting a new roof on that has no sunroof or alpine windows. There will be a LaSalle full headlining, Series 3 88" van sides with no windows to replace the side panels, new galvanised cappinga and a new door. All but the headlining are here and ready for painting.
You can see why i need to change the cappings

I will be putting in some overland products as soon as i have some spare cash.
Here's some ideas

I haven't figured out how i want to mount the fridge in the boot yet. That will determin what else goes in there and how

do you have to swap out the sender in the transfer box for the electromechanical type or is the td5 purely mechanical cable like the tdi?

Well, i've finally got bored of a wet seat and dripped on arm followed by a cup holder full of water.
Today, i changed the roof for one that doesn't leak :dance:
Dodging the weather i removed the headlining, trim and sun visors.
I have now found out exactly where the water was coming into the boot from

I'll be doing the cappings when i change the side panels (just after Christmas i hope)
Off with the roof

And on with one without a sunroof and alpine windows

As you can see the weather was perfect for roof swapping :doh:
I just have the headlining to re-fit in the morning and then it will start to dry out at last!!

This weekend i have fitted unbreakable heated mirrors to my Defender.
Not totally LR looking but nice and strong with the abilty to de-mist in the morning :mrgreen:

To wire them up i needed to fit some of my Carling switches i had in the Discovery.
This mean't cutting some more holes in the Mud console.
Due to the amount of space the switches need i had to relocate the radio down to the bottom.
So, two new holes later it looks like this

I wired up the mirrors to a on-off switch using a relay.
Now, just to obtain a heated screen
