There was a report in one of the local papers about a similar Police sting in the Brecon Beacons recently - motocross bikes using a quarry illegally. There have also been joint GLASS/CRAG/Police operations in an attempt to deal with the mess that idiots have made around the Strata Florida trail.

I was hoping to drive the Strata Florida next year. What sort of thing are the idiots doing. Is there any problem with driving that lane now (sticking to the route)
It wont be long before we cant spend a weekend enjoying the lanes and views of wales.

People are going off piste or driving up the river. Even worse, they are then posting their "exploits" on YouTube, but links are being given to the Police.

No problem with driving Strata by the rules at the moment, just beware the usual river levels and the fact that the route seems to change rapidly. It's probably going to change again this winter with the usual weather conditions, although I think it dried out a fair bit this year as the puddles seemed a lot lower.

Make sure you've got the right maps as it can be tricky to work out which is the proper right of way, if in doubt it's usually the easiest line with the rocky base but hopping out of the truck and having a look is never a bad idea.

Strata isn't beyond repair, but could use a bit of TLC and a serious long-term effort to show the swamp monsters that they're not welcome.

Thanks Disco Matt ,I was going to get the Maps and plan a 3 day trip to wales next year (3-4 Land Rovers) I think I will try contacting the Local GLASS rep before my trip to see if they are any help.

Its a real same that the actions of a few will kill the opportunity to drive areas like this. Not only that, because of all the other routes its easy to make an honest mistake and end up driving the wrong routes then get branded as another one of the idiots.
