As far as I can remember from the one I used to service for a local company, it has no low range but it does have an electronic central difflock operated from a dash switch IRC.

I think it is their concession to not having a low-box.  Supposedly an extra-low first gear.  In practice I don't remember it being particularly low - it is certainly in the main gear box - not a separate set of low gears.

Same as in my Land Cruiser.

P = Park
R = Reverse
D = Drive
2 = Second
L = Low (or first) as in lowest gear.

hi guys can u explain this then?

Remeber that's the lever for the gearbox, not the transfer case.

If it was a low ratio it would be a 2nd set of gears being brought in by the transfer case, not by the gearbox.

As above, L for lowest gear.

As in yes there is a low gear in the gearbox.

There's also a high gear and a couple of other gears in between.

If you took away the lowerest gear then the next one up would then become the low gear.

If you took away the 3 lowest gears then the high gear would then become the low gear, but it would also be the highest.

No it doesn't have a low ratio transfer case.

Is it lower than standard? What's standard?  If it's fitted to that car then it's standard for that car.

The auto rav has hardly any engine braking and 1st gear isn't particularly low.
