Heading north after Christmas
« on: October 08, 2009, 13:49:24 »
I'm spending a few days in Scotland after Christmas and planning on having a scenic drive up to the west coast. It's a bit of a 'first outing' for my 90 which is nearing completion

Any roads I really *have* to drive? You know the sort....... wow factor 10 on the scenic scale  :D

All suggestions gratefully received.

I was hoping to use the little ferry across to Skye, but it only runs from Easter to October  :(

Watching thread. Me and dogs are taking the 110csw to john-o-groats in Nov from Wiltshire - via lakedistrict and Newcastle, probably East coast though  Whilst my Mrs is sunning self on a beach in Mexico. Not been to the highlands before, I'm expecting is to be a tad COLD... and we are camping

you can drive to skye now, it's got a bridge http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye_Bridge

We'll be staying with the outlaws near Glasgow, so it will only be a long day trip, hence trying to get suggestions for 'must see' roads  :D

I'll be driving across Swaledale on the way up rather than the A66. Haven't been for a drive just for the sake of it for years, so I'm really looking forward to it
