Traffic
« on: October 25, 2009, 19:17:35 »
Has this forum slowed :police: down in the last year, as when  i was last registered it used to be really busy with threads and postings nearly every 20-30 mins,
i have been looking through the threads with great interest and sad to see Langdale Quest closed, and i' havent seen a wisper of Langley Farm Scissett events.
I was hoping to rejoin thinking it was going to busier than ever !

 It has slowed a bit.
Re Langley farm, that's still going, but it's only once a year in summer,
so hardly surprising it hasn't been on here for a while..

I would wonder if people are busy fettling and driving their trucks as much as possible before winter closes in?

I drifted off for years (after very intermittent visits anyway) and it is certainly a lot quieter.  Do what I'm doing and answer your own posts (on Defender 'TD5 knackered' ) ..........!!! Lots viewing it for some reason, and some active interest/help from Extreme90 (Dan) and a couple.

Its therapeutic just to talk over the dismantling on screen rather than in my head somehow - or maybe I need to get out more........!!  Cheers, A

p.s. why does this post reply screen always have a jittery cursor and the text disappears under the bottom of the text box if I fill it up - darned annoying.... :-.
3 Defenders on and I'd still buy another.....

I quite miss Langley Farm (when it didn't clash with a Cyclo-Cross event)

Mick Moses, who was one of the main 'LF' organisers is a member on here, so maybe a 'PM' to him??

I would wonder if people are busy fettling and driving their trucks as much as possible before winter closes in?

recently engine n filter change and other oils topped up, 4 UJ's replaced, x-lites and mounting brackets fitted, mud rails fitted to driver seat, car pc - rewired, ham radio additional grounding, some sound and thermal lining added, rear window blanks re-sealed, bonnet stay rattle fixed, disco transfer box fitted, new input gear fitted for PTO winch drive, eberspacher night heater fitted, plumbed and wired. 2nd row seating area boarded and padded for dog nest, seat covers washed, rear work lamp fitted...
*think* I might be ready for john o groats trip.

and for those guys who don't have landrovers and don't need to fettle

All the forums are quiet at the moment, maybe longer hours being worked, more time being spent with the family...

Or people picking up bargains due to the resession and stockpiling future 'projects'...

On a local level, I've seen significant changes in the last few years. We used to have a core of regulars who would come along to anything that was organised. Then there were others who popped along from time to time. At one point, we had something like 30 members turning up at pub meets. Now it's hard to get anyone to turn up  :(

I know a few people who have moved on from our hobby. The cost in this financial climate can be a problem. I'm sure we all appreciate that

As for the forum, it's nature has changed over the years with times of turmoil caused by a few members who didn't like the idea of playing by the rules. As a result of those tough times, we have seen key members take a back seat which is a real shame.

But overall, this forum remains true to it's origins. Fun, free and friendly. If it means fewer active members to maintain this, that's fine by me. I'd rather see a quieter forum than the bickering and back stabbing we have witnessed in the past.

WOT 'E SAID!

I've been one of the back seaters recently... work has kinda taken over my life and I'm not getting the opportunities to play that I used to. Also... money has picked up a bit so I can pay some other Beggar to scuff their knuckles, curse, swear and generally have fun working on my beastie!

Long live Mud Club!
