on my 300tdi when i leave it ticking over or drive at low speed ie: 10mph   it starts to genarate smoke its the same when i park up then restart it??, i think it might be the valve steam oil seals . now has anyone done these and is it a hard job ??
As a youth I could run up and down stairs all day now I'm older it takes me all day just to walk upstairs

Hi
I replaced a set on my disco last year. It was a head off job though.
You might be able to do it with the head on if you have an extra pair of hands and are very carefull.
If you rotate the crank so the piston is at tdc it might stop the valve from droping into the bore.
