Cat C right offs

 Hi all, off on a lenghty trip early tomorrow morn to have a looky at a 90 for sale, the seller/dealer stated its cat C repaired,
  Apart from asking him, is there any way of finding out where/what damage has officially occured to the vehicle ?? I am going to to a hpi/history check whilst im there, and of course a very very good looky around it, its cheap (ish) but not "too good to believe"   should it have damaged pics and some sort of "extra inspection" or roadworthyness check rather than a mot ?

 Im quite happy to scrabble around underneath and have a measure up on chassis stuff, pull back trim ect to check stuff out   ;)
Never dabbled in insurance stuff before  8-[

     Any tips please  :-k

It should have a ministry check certificate (forgot the term, too much beer) to indicate its road legal and repairs are of a satisfactory standard.

Some great bargains out there for CAT C 's

That would be a VIC check, it only checks the numbers match up and it is not a 'Ringer'
My sisers car was cat c for damage to the front bumper, plastic and dinted, was allowed to go back on road but needed vic check to tax and get log book back. will state on log book it is cat c

There used to be a test you could take to get off the write off register, but that was before the whole cat a-d thing came about TBH.  It should have had a basic test but I'm not sure there is any legal requirement other than an MOT.  Check with your insurers that they will insure it though and be prepared to get nowt for it in a claim as they will argue it's already a write-off.

 After driving for over 2 hours, it was a total mismatch and the guy was evasive to say the least,  lots of bits still missing and definately lots of panels lining up ( even by landy standards  ;) )

   But if we didnt go there and investigate, could have missed a jem  :roll:
