Safety Recall Action B156 - Fuel tank cracking
« on: April 05, 2005, 15:01:25 »
Just received this from a yahoo group is it just north America or the whole world?

Alan

Hey guys,

Just received notice from Land Rover North America:

Safety Recall Action B156 - Fuel tank cracking
March, 2005
Discovery Series I and Range Rover Classic
Model Years: 1993 - 1997

They will replace the gas tank or reimburse you if you have already
had it done.

We had ours done a few years ago by an independent shop that
specializes in Land Rovers and uses genuine Land Rover parts.
Hopefully we'll be able to get reimbursed.  The tank may also need to
be replaced again?

Leon
1996 Discovery SE7
Tucson, AZ

Yes I wondered about that. :o Mine is a 1990 so does not affect me. What is the diffence between 1989-1992 and 1993-1996 tank? Is it just the v8?

There are no recalls in the latest issue DOT recall list for Disco's  and as Tim pointed out, they would only be for vehicles made in the last few years- remember the trouble people had after 18months with lifting dashboards.

First LR, didn't want pay up, then they did for a few months, then they stopped. can't remember dates, and I think the telly -Watchdog - or something put the pressure on.

I'd imagine that's quite possible although a lot of manufacturers build cars to the toughest standard and roll that out worldwide.  It could also be down to climate.
Are the tanks in question plastic or steel? I'd think in NAS they'd all be V8.

Hehe... not Land Rover... the NAS-only parts list is huge :-)
