HGV jobs. Anything out there?
« on: November 13, 2009, 17:43:40 »
I am having a really horrible time at work at the moment with my loader who is just making it unbearable due to his lazyness and negative attitude.

So does anyone know of any hgv class 1 or 2 (C or C+E) jobs around Daventry / DIRFT / Banbury? I have applied to Eddie Stobart as they have a vacancy for as and when needed drivers. If the pay is right and I could live off 3 days a week then I will be happy with that.

I would prefer to do trunking work. Not driven a class 1 sincemy test 11 months ago but have driven class 2 refuse and recycling lorries since November last year so a year experience there. I am a hard worker who wants to work, never late (famous last words) and rarely goes off sick. Last day off sick was over 5 years ago now.

Or if anyone knows some good web sites that advertises jobs to keep looking out on that would be great too. Prefer not to do multi drop eg for Argos to houses etc as that stresses me out too much trying to find a house name on a house but no house name exists on the house. If you see what I mean!

How about checking with the likes of Prodrive at Banbury? Hauling racing cars around the world seems like an OK job to me  :D And the pay is usually very good in that industry.

Pro Drive has a vacancy.  :D A good knowledge of London roads and a full clean driving license is essential. Oh dear. Never driven in London ever. I can use the tube though but I dont think is what they are after. I have a clean license if you dont count a bit of mud on it!

Stobart is a good job been with them for a couple of years now.  only thing with tramper for them is they like you to do at least on weekend day so shiftd run tuesday to saturday, wensday to sunday, thursaday to monday. know some drivers who just work friday saturday sunday monday and make a good wage.
Keep ringing stobarts to se what they have going.
Tescos is also a good one around there pay is good.

this is the job I have applied for so far. I didnt know it but I have a mate and her brothers both work for ES and one of them knows the ES family for a number of years now. I doubt it would help me get a job but it is certainly a small world!

I looked on Tesco web site but just got very baffled! I read about the job I want but couldnt find anywhere that I could apply and look for vacancies!

I have tried RAC and AA but no joy. I wouldnt mind a recovery driver getting to talk to people. But tramping work seems good too.

I can vouch for asda being a good firm to work for but I dont know where there nearest RDC is to you.If you havent driven an artic for 11 months I think your best bet would be an agency, but come the new year it will die a death evertwhere does(including stobarts, thats why they are setting on with no guaranteed hours I reckon)

Just had a look and the only driver job is in Gateshead. :-(

I have booked my self in for a artic refresher training day to hopefully make my cv look better. £168 though. gulp. I will look up Asda. :-)
