Sky customer service
« on: November 14, 2009, 09:25:34 »
Had a problem with the Sky box earlier in the week. I refuse to pay for premium rate phone numbers when the company is charging £40 a month for their service anyway, so I looked for their geographical number. Turns out they change them on a frequent basis so people are forced to pay some huge fee to be put on hold for 20 minutes

So, given it's not a life threatening problem (!), I decided to e-mail them on Tuesday......

So, can you guess whether I've had a reply yet or not?

As it happens, I found the viewing card had been swapped into the interactive card slot...... clever little blighters, these one year olds

But I think I should take Sky to court over the trade desciptions act. 'Customer service' should mean just that. Not 'We might get back to you in a week or so. Or maybe we won't'.

Have they got a customer charter and do they say "We endeavour to reply in x amount of days"? there is always a get out clause  ;)

I called the once as for some reason my screen comes up saying no signal found for a few channels. Normally only ones that I want to watch. Grrr. They couldnt sort it out so just have to live with not being able to watch some channels occasionaly. They come back after a while.

Did you know there is a secret menu as well which may help you in the future. Push service button on your remote then 01 select and boom, secret menu! It has to be 01 not 1

Plenty to choose from.

That's the site I used, but they only list a few geographical numbers. I tried the most likely ones and they are 'no longer available'. I am told Sky purposely change their 'real' numbers frequently so they can keep raking in cash from the expensive numbers.

Just had a call from Sky!! Only a week after the e-mail went to them

Her actual words were "I know the e-mail was last week, and since we hadn't heard from you again, I thought I should give you a call".

It sounds like they were waiting for me to chase it up before they responded. In other words, they wanted me to call the premium rate number to ask what was happening to my enquiry
