heated screen wiring...........HEEEEEEEEEELP !
« on: November 14, 2009, 12:11:14 »
I have myself a nice new heated windscreen in my Defender, but it won't work because i don't know for sure what the wiring set up for it is :(

I have a wiring diagram for a screen with 3 connections on it but the screen I've been supplied only has 2 connections on it ( one either side )  The screen i have doesn't look like it had 3 either cos i looked over it very well before i fitted it !

Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's going to get frosty real soon and I'm running out of ideas and don't want to blow it up !

Cheers

Alan.

Hi Alan,

I too am looking for advice on wiring up a heated screen (for a 300Tdi Discovery). My screen has two connectors, one at each end. Auto-Sparks of Nottingham were really helpful in providing the correct connectors, Dash board Switch and Timer relay but I can't find any information on how to wire up the switch. There are five connectors, numbered 1 - 5.
If you find any information out could you please pass it on?

There seems to be quite a lot of dicussion on various forums regarding Heated Screens but no information.

If I find out anything I'll pass it on.

Good hunting!

Mike.

Mike, this is the wiring diagram i have, though it's for a screen with 3 connectors on it i'm pretty sure the relay wiring would be the same, hope this helps !

wiring for the timer relay numbered 1 - 5

1. Switch
2. Earth
3. connects to pin 30 on the power relay then goes to the battery positive via an inline fuse
4. ignition positive
5. connects to pin 85 on the power relay

wiring for the power relay

85. connects to pin 5 on the timer relay
86. Earth
87. Screen
87. Screen
30. connects to pin 3 on the timer relay then goes to the battery positive via an inline fuse
