Gearbox Oil

Any thoughts on using special oil in the LT77 in my Disco. It has done 95000 and is filled with Donax with no troubles. The transfer box gets a bit noisy after two days green laning, that has 80/90 in it. Diflock sell synthetic gearbox oils but it will be an exspensive job to change the lot.

Wouldnt waste your money, just use atf for the box and ep90 for the transfer box.

Plus if you thicken it too much it can wreck the internal pump!

Thanks folks, being a true Yorky I was reluctant to spend silly money on fancy oils. Logic being to change all the oils before my next long adventure. It appears the 380 gearbox is more prone to trouble than the LT77 for some odd reason. I can get 80/90 and Donax very nearly free but don't ask how . I have just read the workshop manual and that recommends Donax TF from Shell so I will stick to that and treat the truck to some thing nice for Christmas. It will be having four weeks off in December because I really have to go to Australia for Christmas.

Landrover gave the R380 more oil ways to make it better, but just shows us users think different? what does every one think?
