300TDi Speedometer
« on: November 15, 2009, 14:21:21 »
On Phoenix I need to get the speedo working. Because it was previously an Automatic, there is no speedo cable receiver in the back of the dashboard binnacle. What would be the best way to get the speedo working?

I had / have a simular type of problem, my speedo is 'jumpy' and way off 'accurate'.

Apparently, it's not uncommon on the 300tdi, you see there is no speedo cable on these.

There is an electrical wire attached to the speed sensor on the rear of the gearbox (by the handbrake drum) and these tend to wear.

It is held in by a simple allen key (hex) bolt, whip it out and inspect it, it may need replacing.

Good luck.
Gary.
it's a mud thing............you wouldn't understand !!

There is also a little pastic "gearbox" widget that converts the trotation of the speedo cable to an electrical pulse that is fed up to the speedo on the aforementioned wire. You'll need one of these if it's not there or replace it if knacke'd.

Ok, does anyone know if the transducer (Widget on the geaqrbox) will fit straight on an LT77 gearbox and where the wiring for the speedo can be purchased from as i am having no luck finding them. Thanks for the help.
