DVD Conundrum
« on: April 07, 2005, 15:40:42 »
Yesterday whilst out shopping for 'small-childs' birthday I ended up in HMV.
I thought I'd try & get her one of those weird kids DVD's,a bunch of Australian crazies called 'The Wiggles'
I found it, bought it, then something else caught my eye....

It was a double DVD of a film I'd wanted to see at the pictures, but SWMBO wouldn't go & I never got another chance.

It was 'Van Helsing', with Hugh Jackman (Wolverine; 'X-Men') & Kate Beckinsale.
But the strange thing was the single DVD was priced at £14.99, & the double at £9.99 :?

I wonder why that is?, over stocking of the double, a mis-pricing?

I wasn't bothered as I bought & watched the first half-hour or so last night.
Quite fast paced & some very nice brides of Dracula :D (well, in human form)
Nice leather corset for Kate Beckinsale as well :D  :D

Bought 'Batman. Mystery Of The BatWoman' as well
Richard A Thackeray
Defender 110Td5 'Heritage Gone, but not forgotten
Jaguar XKR; X88 JLT, also 'gone, but not forgotten'

Yorkshire Born & Bred, and proud of it.

I think, though i could be very very wrong...

That the price of single DVD's is more regulated than the 'extra' ones...
Stops price too many price wars etc

However i believe there is more leighway in the double or extra ones as they are more money in the first place, and classed as 'specialist' ie not everyone can be bothered with the all signing all dancing version

Missus was deperate for a Dirty Dancing DVD.  HMV had a slot for it when they had their massive sale (£4.99??) a few months ago, but no DVDs.  We found one in the normal racks, so went to purchase it.  That'll be £16.99 please.  No, it's £4.99.  It hasn't got one of the offer stickers on it.  But it's exactly the same DVD.  I know, but it hasn't got one of the stickers on it.  We left HMV empty handed.

if you want cheaper dvd's (not always the case nowadays) and possibly alternative dvd's with different extra's

www.dvdboxoffice.com

its canadian (you can buy them in canadian or american dollar, just check the exchange rate to see which one is cheapest for you)

i got the matrix 3 MONTHS before it came out in the cinema here! (this is the original matrix remember)

it was out in america for a good while before it was out here and it went out on dvd quickly too, hence why i bought it

its my 6th yr this year that i have owned a dvd player!
