over run whine

When I accelerate, no noise, when i come off the pedal, i have a whine (more of a whirring drone) from the front i think or could be gbox, as i accelerate it dissapears, any idea?

Pop the bonnet and run the engine up and down with your head stuck in! It could be something like the alternator?

Worth a try 1st as its cheaper than a gearbox!!

Also check the prop uj's as they can give wierd noises!!

If it's overun then chances are it's in the powertrain, gearbox etc.  It could be a belt or somthing cathcing as the engine shifts, check the fan on the cowling as mine started to catch as the bushes perished and the engine dropped.

If it is ini the tranny then turn up the radio ;)

I get the same thing, only started recently, is it transmision? is there likely to be large bill on the horizon?

Have you checked the oil levels in gearbox, transferbox & diffs?

(if they are full, then that's one possible issue checked)
