300 tdi alternator querie

hi guys ive just bought a 300 tdi alternator off ebay this has got the v belt pully so firstly, did the 300"s have these and secondly can i just change pulleys over as mine has got the ribbed one cheers    jo

Should all be poly V which is the multi ribbed one you mention, as it drives the PAS pump, water pump, alternator and fan from the bottom pulley! Strange it has single v belt on it!  :?

No all 300,s have a serpantine(ribbed) belt on. Sounds like you have bought a 200 altinator, I have no idea if you can swap the pullys though.

yes u can change pulley over an yes if its a 200 one u can make it fit but if u buy alternator off a rover 420 they exactly the same alternator an have the price ;)

IIRC the 300 TDi alternator is the same as the late hard dash RRC V8 with extra equipment, the 100 Amp unit.  Unlike the serpentibn V8 alternator, which is a bit "troublesome" at times.

If I get chance I'll have a look at my spare, but AFAIK the 300 should be multi-vee as stated above.
