Speakers for 90 dashboard?
« on: December 07, 2009, 21:29:34 »
Hi all,

I would like to replace the under dashboard speakers that are factory fitted for better ones! , but as there is not much room behind the speakers I'm not to sure what will fit

Has anybody got any suggestions on what to get??

Thanks all :P

I just got some new ones for mine, JBL ones i think, they were on offer at halfords.

Even with a spacer they are still too deep.

The passenger one hits on the wiper motor assy :(

If you get some, let me know what ones you get!

Mark, if you still have your bulkhead, you can cut a piece of mdf to fit the bulkhead and mount 4 speakers on that.
You fit the mdf at the top of the bulkhead and at the bottom, it fits against the seatbox where the box bolts to the bulkhead, the whole bit of wood is on an angle allowing fitment of large speakers.
I have it on my truck cab and have 4 6x9s in there, sounds amazing too

If you search on ebay there are a lot of speaker, grill and spacer sets already designed for the Defender. Good quality ones like Kenwood or the likes usually going for around £40.
