Years ago, I did the same on my old RRC. It made the bonnet very difficult to lift and caused a blind spot that you could very easily loose a toddler behind.

It went back in the boot within days.

Can't remember the specific date but after a certain year it is illegal to bonnet mount a spare wheel, which is why you cannot get a Defender with a bonnet mounted spare wheel from new, down to pedestrian safety standards I believe?

must be near the year 2000 mark if not later im sure iv seen td5`s with them on there i have to keep my 9,00 on the 109 on the bonnet as if dosent fit the rear well in the back and takes up too much room on the floor as i carry bulky loads

A bit O/T  but i think spare wheels are a bit over rated as in the last two years i have done over 60,000 miles going to and from tips / waste transfer stations / land fill sites and scrap yards and never had a flat... But swmbo who's car only dose school and supermarket run's has had two puctures in two weeks! both of which i took to the local tire place @ £5.00 ago .......... 18' low profile's
