Inlet manifold ?

It's a 2.5v6 and my enigne light came on today,had the computerput on it at a local independant and they say it needs the above due to faulty valve/sensor and it will cost me £500. Does this sound right or too expensive,any toughts/comments would be appreciated,thanks Andy.

Ther are two motors (called VIS valves) on the manifold which move the variable valves & it will be one of these which are available seperately. A garage with Testbook or similar will be able to drive them manually & see which one is faulty. It's only 4 screws to change one. ;)

Hi and thanks, so when they connected the computer shold it have told them which one and does £500 seem over the top?

Were they using TestBook or just a fault code reader? It sounds like the latter.

Andy's reply would suggest that it shouldn't be that expensive.

Hi Graham - it was a blue portable comp. about 12/15'' square and a couple of inches thick. I did some research on the net last night and found a new manifold for £470 supply only,so i will contact them later to see if thier price included fitting and parts. It's nice to know it's still a green oval and takes shed loads of cash to keep on the road :lol:.

And how much are the motors previously stated?
Does the new maniflod come with them?

Might be worth doing some more investigating first.

New manifold comes with motors, it needs Testbook or Rovercom to check them out. ;)

Just to keep everyone updated there's a company that advertises on ebay that is a rover specialist, i'm going down to him next week so he can put it on the computer to diagnose and if necasary will replace with  new manifold and both motors including labour and vat for £530. Previous price was for parts only so will keep you up to speed with the goings on.

Todays the day, nice drive down the M1 setting out at about 06.00 to allow plenty of time to get there as i'm booked in for 08.30. Will update later to let you know how things get on.

OK guys/gals heres the update WOW,first class garage/workshop with really nice people,did the job exactly as they said they would and supplied buckets of tea and coffee as it was freezing and exactly to the price quoted.  Infact when they road tested it they were not happy and took it back in the workshop and checked it again, found a misfire on No4 cylinder coil and sorted that out for FREE. Will be listing their full details in the appropriate section but BS Motors of Sandy is the place. :clap: :clap: :clap:
