« on: December 16, 2009, 18:33:00 »
I have just down loaded Rage against the machine, I only hope it can beat the  X-craptor number one. Maybe this will see the beginning end of the end of the bloody talents shows.

I don't get this at all.

You being told to buy rage against the machine so that x factor doesn't get to no 1.

Specifically your being told to buy bullet in the head with the ending lirics of 'f you I won't do what you tell me...'  um ;)

Also this is a protest about the music industry just pumping out crap. But buying RATM is just lining their pockets more, infact double since all the people who would be buying the x-factor tune are doing that as well.

It's hardly a protest against the method of chosing the stars for pop music since for the last 30 years all pop music acts have been constructed in the same way, auditions and talent shows, it's just with x-factor they've taken the curtains down and making money off the show as well as the artist.

So buy rage against the machine, and it's win win for the record company.

Don't get it.

Whats not to get.

x-factor is like simon cowels personal automatic teller machine.

and i for one think the music that comes out of the x factor is Poop.

so i am going to try and get something else to number one for those two incredibly amazing reasons.

and the lyrics for RATM are brilliant. if you dont like it. dont buy it. no one is forcing you.

But they are both SONY

Simon Cowel is syco records, which is owned by Columbia, who's parent company is Sony BMI.
Rage against the machine are on Epic records which is part of Sony BMI.

If you've an issue with Cowell, stop buying boycott Sony products, don't just line their pockets more.

Not so sure it's purely against Simon Cowell, its against the X factor having christmas number 1 ever year, even though the song is a load of puke!

They are every year anyway.

Best attempt at a christmas no 1 was maiden and bring your daughter to the slaughter in 1990. Cliff Richard popped that one to the post.

Personally I think the dominance of Mr Cowell is due to the diversity of the music industry today as opposed to anything terrible and oppressive. There is so much choice due to the MP3 market that the old method of having a choice of records in WHSmith means that the consumer spread is much more diverse. Therefore anything that causes a "blip" such as x-factor marketing, Facebook,Donnie Darko etc  etc is just a blip. Number 1 these days is meaningless in terms of sales as most of them wouldnt have got anywhere in the charts 20 yeas ago in terms of percentage sales.

And anyway, I bought rage against the machine when it was out last originally so "no, I wont do what anyone tells me"

here's an idea - how about a Christmas no.1 actually being reserved for a Christmas Song instead of non seasonal pap.
