Fitting long range fuel tanks

I have just installed a Safari Equip long range main and wing tank to my 95 Disco 1.

Interesting.  How much fuel can you carry now?  I take it the tank isit'sown tank guard, but why do you need so much fuel on board, are you going on a trip somewhere.

As I put in the article; I put 160 litres in before I stopped.  Unfortunately the breather pipes are too short so I daren't fill it to the brim until i have extended them.  But 160 is fairly reasonable :D

We are  traveling to the Sahara in Tunisia next year and we hope to do some more trips in the future.

The bottom of the tank is a bit low.  It sits at about halfway down the rear diff which is the same drop as the front steering guard.

There is always a compromise with these things.  I don't intend to do any extreme stuff with the car any more although I did take it through a bit of mud the next day and it performed okay.  I shall probably look at getting a 90 for more mud-plugging.

I do intend visiting a local fab shop to see if he can make up a tank guard though
