Ouch!!!
« on: April 09, 2005, 18:47:02 »
Took the head off a mates 2.5TD today, it was running well, burning oil on start up so we did the valve oil seals. Bit of a nasty surprise on removing the head, by the looks of the other pistons it has thrown a cam belt at some point as there is a valve imprint on two of the other cylinders.

I also found why my 2.5TD was blowing oil, There is a hair line fracture in one of the pistons which missed first time round .
One of the others looks a bit suspect so will probably do the lot. If one's gone then the others wont be far behind.

I wonder if I can get bulk discount on piston & Ring sets  .

Matthew

Oooh nasty.
I was lucky just rebuilding the pistons back into the lightweight, after re-ringing it, luckily thats all it needs (hopefully) already decoked the head, I'm hoping this is the end of the oil burning 2-stroke lightweight

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40
