Clutch Slipping
« on: December 23, 2009, 15:26:41 »
My Td5 Clutch is playing up.

Its a Td5 90. The Clutch wines when used from cold . It sounds like the release bearing? It has done this for the last few months.
The clutch has now started slipping when you change gear. It only does this some of the time and when it does slip it seems to stop after 15-20 seconds.

I was thinking this could be the release bearing getting stuck/sticking?
Any Ideas ?

The history shows it was changed about 2 years ago and its now done just over 6000 miles in that time.
It had the dual mass fly wheel done as well.

Potentially this could be the rear crankshaft oil seal leaking and spraying the friction plate with oil. Check the wading plug hole for signs of an oil leak. Give the mileage the new clutch has done, I would be very doubtful the clutch friction plate is worn. However, the cluctch will need replacing anyway if there is an oil leak.

Its not the clutch,

It was the GKN overdrive and it gave up on Monday. I could not get reverse at all and it would slip going foward.
I need to get hold of the standard input gear and bearing plate so I can take off the GKN.
