Tow bars
« on: December 23, 2009, 20:13:36 »
I was wondering if anyone knew if a D1 tow bar will fit a D2 ?. the reason i'm asking is well i've dropped a bit of a clanger  what I thought was the tow ball fixing point turns out to be the top mounting for an adjustable tow bar :doh:so I need the adjuster bit. I was also wondering if the top fixing would be strong enough to use on it's own as a recovery point in which case I would open up the holes & fit a 10mm plate behind & poss make some brakets to go to the chassis if I can as i've got some 6mm checker plate
I don't suffer insaity ! I enjoy it !!!

I think the chassis mounts are the same but the DII towbar sticks out a lot further from the chassis.

d2's have to have type approved towbars by law and any alterations are not allowed neither is retro fitting an older models tow bar even if it will fit.

I asked the same question a few years ago and the majority answer was no.
