wading plugs and extended breathers

  hi,

      Ive just got my 90 a few weeks ago having had several different types of 4x4 in the past so ive started looking round at all the mods availiable.  ive come across wading plugs.. are they worth fitting? and can they be fitted and left in permenantly as surely the axle needs breathers? or are extended breathers a better option?

Wading plugs aren't fitted to the axles. they are fitted to the bellhousing and timing belt cover. and should be removed when not offroading. I would say always use them if you are going to be wading in wet muddy conditions. After destroying my thrust bearing whilst laning on Salisbury Plain. Axle breather should also be extended if you're going to be doing any deep wading. As well as fitting a snorkel. I use 6mm pusfit tubing and fittings, and connected both axles to a T piece then extended that in to the engine bay, did same with gear.transfer box and then same again in engine bay. This only requires 3 tee pieces and finally extend a single pipe up the back of my snorkel all the way up to the top of it.

  cheers for that. i ordered a wading kit this morning..murphys law says itl turn up the day after i go gren lanning!
