i just got back from cumbria, hartside was impassable for lesser vehicles on tuesday and the range rover had to plough through the snow first to clear a route on the highway.

We tried to drive up Cross Top to Swaledale on the 26th, but thought better of it since the snow was getting a bit serious and nothing had been through before us. We turned round and took the Buttertubs pass instead. Then it took over an hour to get down to Kirkby Stephen. The B6270 was 10"-12" deep in snow in places. We only met one other vehicle, another Defender coming the other way, although there were vehicle tracks.

Well went out playing today in the white stuff. What a fun day it was went over to ruthin then picked up the a5 towards betws y coed but last min turned off on the b4407 towards Blaenau Ffestiniog then the fun started nice road single track and on a nice long stright bit saw a 4x4 pick up coming down the road so i slowed down ready to stop by a passing place the other driver just came down the road road like a boy racer with no sigh on slowing so i ramed it into reverse he then relised someone else was on the road and hit the brakes (in icy snow) i had reversed back about 25foot and he stop just in front of my disco. Had i not reversed he would of just ploud stright in to the front of me. He was shocked to see another car on the road  I saw him form about 2 miles away
. So anyway me and shmbo carried on up the moors got to the top nice road loads of snow At the highest point found 2 stranded chinese tourist stuck in a drift in there hire car. They had been there for 6 hours  . They said one car had stop but didnt have a tow rope so they left them there Without a phone signal and no hope of rescue some people just make me wonder. So i pulled them out of the snow made sure they were ok. Gave them hot drinks etc. then made sure they go down the road ok. And bless them they wanted to give me money for rescuing them which i refused so they gave us cholcolet bars instead. :D.
Then had fun in the snow down to ffestiniog then down the a470 to betws then over the LLanberis pass then back home down the a5 and over the denighb moors which was nice. Only for the clutch fork to go at a set of traffic lights so ended up driving all the way home to hawarden with out using the clutch and sods law every set of lights and every junction was against me.
Got some pics but none of the rescue i was to busy sorting out the couple and shmbo never thought of taking pics

just come back from north wales  epic snow! rude farmers ... heavon?

came back though buxton to pick up a few things from my flat, came across a stuck pick up on the cat n fiddle pass that was up to its wheel arches in snow that got stuck there after recovering the police, looked down into derbyshire bridge saw a convoy of landys pulling cars up, was up the road near snowdon last week and pulled a car up and my brother tried to pull a car out of a wall, i reovered a mail van ( planet killing 4x4's ay  [-X  )

[ the pic is on a tarmac road] , the angrey famers were well out of order coming out on their quad bikes to tell me i was insane for trying to drive in the snow as i was turning road after realising the snow was 2ft deep on that lane, then on the next lane another farmer shouting at me for being slightly off the lane to let another 4x4 past who wanted to continue whereas all i wanted to do was take pics, whem i say slightly off the lane a mean one wheel about 4 foot off the track still inside the fenced off area seems to be some tension up there maybe glass should be informed i have a few pics of  lane blockages and so on
saw a few groups out in north wales around ruthin area, any of you?
