Bigger intercooler

I keep wondering about fitting a bigger intercooler to my 300TDI Truck Cab but a couple of things are putting me off. First of all the price! £450 for one from allisport on ebay. Secondly, I have enough mechanical cokum to understand that these engines will go on forever in plod mode but if you start tweaking them up then the risk is your putting things under more pressure and stress. Last of all comes back to cost again with the obvious increase in fuel usage. Still keeps niggling me though and keep considering it.

What do you guys reckon?

My mate had one fitted to his 300tdi and it was better to drive.

If you fit a bigger intercooler and start tweaking the pump then it should go better, it should not put more pressure on the engine if you dont drive it hard.
If the engine has more power then you dont need to push it as hard so you should get better MPG.
Thing is most people use the extra power and push the engine harder so the MPG will go down.

Because you are only going to get 20-30Bhp more from the engine, it should be fine if its serviced and and looked after.

Doesn't do much without an injection pump tweak too. You'll be wise to swap out at least the bottom connection hose for a silicone (because standard one is short and wont reach) if not all turbo hoses especially if yours are old.There was a place in Wales knocking them out MUCH cheaper than alisport - v.good quality too it's what I have fitted so have a look around. You may find you do better MPG afterward as you do not need to boot it everywhere- also nice to have the little increase in throttle response on top end for over taking etc
