Fairey PTO winch

Quick question.

Will these run upside down?  Just wondering about the gearbox oil.

Reason I ask is I've got one for my mog, but the PTO is on the wrong side, so turning the winch over seems to be the quick solution, but it's outside in the back of the shed, and dark ;)

Block the breather hole and put a new one right way up????

more of an issue with the worm drive being out of the oil bath, but would splash feed be sufficent lubrication.

Just wondered if anyone had done it / had any problems.
