Rear recovery point(s)..

I was thinking of killing 2 birds with one stone and getting a tank guard with recovery points but i cant find any for a 300 disco? Would 2 jate rings suffice on the rear with rope/strap joining them. Any pictures anywhere of what you guys have done just so i can get some ideas?

I've got a Guardian tank guard on my Disco, the same one as in the link below except I have the recovery hitch aswell

Before I had this I had a standard towbar fitted and replaced the standard towball with one with a receiver hitch combined. It did the trick ok bit I got fed up with the towbar digging in all the time while off road.

200... 300..... there is no difference on the tank gaurds............... i have a southdonw one, bloody heavy, but boy does it work!!

southdown or guardian are your only real options if you want a tank guard strong enough for recovery. otherwise get an off road bumper with built in recovery eye/s

Dad has just put one on his disco and its a great bit of kit. You should be able to get additional add on's for various applications. Recovery point to sit in there instead of the tow ball etc..

On the jate rings question, a mate has cut a hole in his bumper in the middle, which exposes the two holes for the towbar fixing, he then fitted two jate rings through these holes. The sit in a V shape and make a great recovery point.

If you go the tank guard route, then you won't go wrong with the guardian one, its what I have and its the mutts nuts.

I have a southdown guard fitted to Phoenix, but the recovery eye tends to be buried when you get stuck so I made a bracket which fits round the rear crossmember with a NATO hitch bolted to it, sits higher so easier to access in the stick stuff.

Southdown also made a recovery eye for their gaird whcih presents a large hole in a vertical plate, below it is a high-lift jacking point which is damn useful.

Guardian also do one for their guards. Very handy piece of kit, I keep mine on all the time, only sticking the drop plate on when i'm towing.

I used to do with mine, the recovery point also protected the trailing electrical plug.  Thing is I think I'm better off having people drive into a NATO hitch than getting stuck under a tank guard :lol:
