From experience I would say to come to an arrangement between yourselves and then it is just a case of filling forms in  ;)

I bought a divorce guide for around a tenner, came to an agreement with the now ex missus and saved a fortune in solicitors bills  :D

If you are doing the paperwork yourself then make sure you get a clean break order. This should make it more difficult to come after you for spousal maintainance

I split up in 99 gave her a couple of grand and kept the house, in 2004 had a new partner so while off work sick (industrial injury) and on reduced wages I went to the solicitors gave 4 weeks wage slips in and bingo I got legal aid,  :dance: in all it cost me about a fiver to get another solicitor to sign a form.

It took a couple of months (I was back at work) and it was all sorted.

I havent learnt (maybe it was the price) Im getting married again in May  :doh: :lol:

I would think a couple of hundred spent with a good divorce solicitor is money well spent as if you get it wrong and have a future claim this could cause you problems.
If its what you both want I cant see it being difficult
Usually any assets are split 3 ways between you, the wife and the solicitor LOL

I'm watching this with interest as I'm in exactly the same boat. I've been split from the Wife for over 2 years now and she's badgering me for a divorce. I'm all for saving money and I'm more than happy for us to sort it out ourselfs (we are on speaking terms) but my only fear is I don't want her coming back in a few years time asking for half my jackpot lottery win (which I'm hoping will happen at some point  [-o<)

Thankfully we've no kids and as we had a second property I just signed one of them over to her so I'm hoping it will all be straight forward.

Can you not have an agreement in place that you have it all sorted, no coming back when its all gone through.

ok no house as we rented
no kids by her
so this is why i thought id be ok to do the papers rather than paying a solicitor
ive filled most of the paper in
just a few things ive got to put
im not the cleverest of people and some of the phrase meanings were confussing me(but a good friend helpt me)
now i just have to find the £300 for when i had papers back to the court

The divorce pack I got gave all the replies to the questions in the correct solicitor lingo for each choice of answer... I just had to pick one and copy it out in the right box  :D :D

After 2 years it is straight forward, fill in the papers, both sign them, job done  :lol: try get her to pay half costs, may keep her out your way a bit  :lol: :lol: :lol:

The ex has already agreed to pay for half of it anyway so happy days on that front  :dance:

At least go to Citizens advice, best, see a divorce solicitor.

You have to have a clean break, she will be after everything she can; believe me there is no such thing as an amicable divorce.

I cringe when i think about what my ex got outta me.

Get shysters to draw up some kind of manageable split. Go yer separate ways for 2 years. File for divorce.

Should be easy for you: No kids, property, adultery (hopefully)

Just remember the phrase "The marrige has irretreivaly broken down." gets you out of a whole world of pain!
