Front brakes rattling
« on: February 10, 2010, 10:43:40 »
I have Paddocks Front - non vented - slotted and drilled Performance Brake Discs with Lockheed pads fitted and the pads make a terrible noise as I'm driving along, You can see the inner pad lifted by the disc then falling back if you spin the hub, I have tapered the end of the pads but it is still doing it. Didn't do it on the old discs and pads.

I have been told to fit genuine LR pads but @ £50 a set I thought I would ask if anyone else had experienced this problem?

Have you not fitted the anti rattle kit?  Its just  2 lttle springs, one that fits under each split pin

Its got the springs that go between the pads on the pin.

:)This seems a common problem, after fitting discs and pads I had a horrific rattle from the pads. On checking I found the pads moving in the calipers. Some one on one of the forums suggested splitting 6mm nylon air pipe and sliding it down the leading edge of the pads. A drop of superglue keeps them in place. As I said not my idea but it shure works. :D
Old Landrovers dont die they just fade to a red oxide colour.
