do britpart even do forged jate rings? - I have only ever seen references to 'non-forged'.

After the hassle I had with my allegedly heavy duty rear springs (one of them sagged) I wouldn't buy anything else from Britpart.

Sorry was just using britpart as an example of a named brand... would the one on ebay be as suited to the job as a named one?

I have both welded (on front) and forged (on back) fitted, not had any issues with either. I do use in pairs with a bridle if that makes any difference. The welded ones seem well made and meaty enough... would hate to see what situation I would have to be in for them to fail.

On a different note, I've used JGS 4x4 on numerous occasions - good company with well deserved 100% feedback.

Buy the genuine ones. They aren't too expensive and are designed for the job.

Is that a big washer I see under the far side? Why are they so much wider than the chassis rail? I'm currently using a stack of washers to bias it outwards, but will turn up a little spacer tube as soon as I get a chance.

it's the original/standard lashdown eye turned upwards, I presumed they made them wide so you can retain those. Seems to fit the gap too nicely to be 'luck' *shrug* maybe someone has real answer if that is not the case.

I can't get them wide enough to fit at the front because a RRC has the bumper mount through the same bolt and mine also has a steering guard.  Fornteh RRC you can get JATE rings that are machined even wider.

I use Discoparts welded ones, they are very strong even though I have bent one, being fabricated I think has advantages because when they bend you know you have overdone it.
