HOW rotton........?
«

Well, had a fun (!) weekend doing some pre-MOT welding on the O/S/R door pillar/wheelarch area (thought it was only series guys who had to worry about fully-floating door pillars!) and knew the other side needed doing.
Had it tested in the week, which revealed monster rot in the rear xmember/body mounts. Could have tested it myself but never have as I A) prefer a fresh pair of eyes just In case plus B) I think It looks a bit sus.
Question Is, do I patch it up for the test then sell it which would please SWMBO or do I do a proper job & keep It?
Discus! :-.

Sell it and replace it with what? another car that someone else has bodged up to sell, someone else's problem, or a far more expensive newer car :-k
Better the devil you know I say.

Gotta agree with RRB there, better the devil you know indeed :)
Had all the mechanical stuff done on mine since the rebuild and its running really well now, I made a good decision albeit an expensive one but hopefully now I have a car that will last a few more years.
Overall I'm happy with what I did and it was all done properly. :)

Well, I did the other side this weekend & I'm off to Craddocks' for a couple of x-member body mounts (yes I know I could make them myself but in the time that takes I can have them on!)
Then It's retest time then shelling out for tax!
SWMBO wants me to get a nice little runaround - HA!
Apparently I promised to sell it 3 years ago after It spewed the contents of the gearbox on the A38 just out of Plymouth and cost me more than It was worth to be recovered back home but I keep pulling excuses, not sure how long I can keep It up!! ;)

OK final update! Welding is finished & now mot'd & taxed. Sadly, however, I have decided It is time to part with It. I bought It originally to tow a caravan and since I came to my senses long ago & sold the shed the Discovery is largely redundant now.
Don't worry, I'm not planning to leave the fold completely & hope to get a series in the future.
In the meantime, If anyone want a 200 TDI keep an eye on the for sale section!
