is it just me?
« on: March 07, 2010, 21:38:51 »
is it me or is the new set of "7 second" adverts for windows 7 a bit off?  we drum into our kids about being open with their internet use and i make sure i know what my 13 yr old daughter is doing online then microsoft run ads for windows 7 extolling the virtues of hiding what your doing with inprivate browsing :? surely this contradicts what we,re trying to teach our kids in the first place?

Private browsing is for porn. M$ is just trying to find other reasons for selling it to the public.

Of course, they will market is as a security feature so you don't leave credit card details, etc on your 'puter.

it's not exactly new either it's just they now have a idiot button to turn it on and off easier. Camerashy (http://sourceforge.net/projects/camerashy/) is based on an IE5 version and we setup it for private browsing back then in 2002.

it's not a security feature, it just hinders other casual user of the system having an easy way of seeing browsing history - so hence its rather a 'privacy feature'.
