TATA Pickups (any Good)
« on: March 13, 2010, 21:03:35 »
I keep thinking about a pickup truck, basically as an off road van (I have a small holding)

Ocassionally I see TATA pickups, they seem very cheap compared to usual suspects (L200s etc) and as I am not bothered about looks etc Are they any good. I only need wet grass/muddy lane  off road capability.

(BTW the Series in the picture is supposed to be doing this job, but is a case study in Series III failures)

There are a few around here that look typically "farmer battered" by seem to cope. I think the only dealer in the UK is just outside town, and there are always a couple parked on the front. Try "Dolwen Garage"

if there anything like the ones out here, then run away and don't look back!

The ones here are really badly built and start to fall apart after a couple of months. The body  panels are unfinished and just spray painted. Engine is gutless, suspension is to hard at the front and non existant at the back. Steering is done via the will of god, the round steering device is more of something to hold rather than direct the vehicle. Hand brake makes a defenders look amazing, so do the normal brakes....

Would like to see what would happen in a crash, considering there 4x4 offering failed to get a single NCAP star!

What does that say?  I pretty good at parsing 'forum' but I take it that's a bad review?

but are cheap for farm hacks buy them new sell at 3 years ish and its worth next to nothing but even so u probly would have lost more on a l200 or landy in the same 3 years even though thay make more when it comes to sell.
