Lacking power

Hi, I have a 200 that has lost power, I have searched on here for solutions, but must be doing something wr as I cant find an answer to my problem

It is guttless, needing to drop it into 4th on the motorway to get up small hills.

I have chaged the lift pump ( slight improvement )

Changed timing belt, and double checked timing

checked fuel lines, including pickup pipes

emptied and cleaned sediment bowel

changed fuel filter

changed air filter

I am at a loss as what to do next, any advice would be greatfully welcomed

Check the turbo boost pressure.
Take off the top intercooler to plenum chamber hose and look inside it to see if its started to fall apart.
Check the outlet hose on the turbo hose doesnt have a hole it on the bend.

This probably isn't the cause (but will give you back a fair bit of power when you find what is!): Remove the intercooler, flush it with paraffin, allow to dry thoroughly and refit.

2 other things that could cause this egr if fitted packed up bin it     partical colector (cat) chocked bin it and put a straight thruogh pipe on it

Cheers, will check pipes in the morning, will have a look on fleabay for a boost gauge :clap:

Cheers, forgot to say that I cleaned it out with thinners a few weeks ago, didn't have any paraffin!!!!

Cheers but no CAT and no EGR valve fitted :'(

When you checked the fuel lines, did you check the connections on top of the tank, located underneath the inspection cover in the boot ?
These corrode and let air in giving the symtoms you have.

Checked them, they are dry with no sign of weeping, so I presume there ok

Have you changed the lift pump? I had the same problem, changed it....power back again :dance:

Yep, bought 1 off fleebay and fitted it, slight improvement, checked hoses today and found nowt untoward :x :x

Check your air pipes to see if they are collapsing,remove the airfilter and put your hand over the pipe and when it sucks look to see if any pipes collapse easily??

Check the hose between the turbo and the intercooler hasn't popped off (at least partially) at the intercooler end - it's not always obvious at a glance.  Mine has a habit of doing this - I suppose a new hose might cure it.
