How much lift needed for 33" Tyres?
« on: April 24, 2010, 18:17:53 »
I have a set of 285/75/16 Cooper STT's on 16x8 modular rims that I want to fit to a currently bog standard D1 300tdi, will a 3" lift and some minor arch trimming (camel cut and front sill end caps) give enough clearance for full articulation?

Last D1 I had was on 31" tyres with a 2" lift and they fouled at the rear on full stretch, I want to avoid this!!

with them the width will be your problem more than the height; some quite serious trimming will be inevitable.

2' suspension lift + 2' body lift & some trimming will do it but as said the problem may be width, but a set ar extended arch's will cover that problem

Hmm, might have to re-think then and stick 'em on the 110

i have mine on 33's. mick at MRM saw me right. i had 2"lift, plus 2" spacer blocks. =4"lift total. you will have to put arches on as they will stick out past the wings. i had 2" arch extensions from m and m. result is my avatar pic. hope this helps

Mobi, are you running 285/75/16's on just a 2" lift?

I had 265/75/16 on mine and they fouled the rear arches even with a camel cut, they hit the door edges etc, I was using modular rims though whereas I see you have LR alloys which have much less offset. Also guess how extreme off-road you go, mine gets tested to full articulation quite a lot so I need to know they won't catch otherwise the tyres and body get trashed!!

yeah 285/75/16 bfgs on 2" lift (britpart hd and procomp+2 shocks) and 30mm wheel spacers, can get quite a bit of flex this is on standard bumpstops, but still no nicks or cuts in the tyres.

and an arch cut with flexi arches
