suzuki advice??
« on: April 26, 2010, 13:24:17 »
I am thinking of buying a suzuki for play days adn occasional laning, I'm used to Land Rover's but want something small and cheap while I save the money to modify my Disco how I want it!

I will need something with MOT, I did wantan SJ but seem to be struggling to find a cheap one, so am wondering about a Vitara??

Anyone give me any tips? what should I look for? should I go for an SJ or a Vitara?

Cheers

Jim

hi jim
welcome to the zook section
yes you will be struggling to find a cheap sj thats not full of rust in all the wrong places
vits as you say are usually coming in at the right sort of price nower days
if your going to start off with a standard motor look around for rust in
wheel arches
body mounts
rear seatbelt mounts
behind the front seats where the floor level rises

for better offroad performance stick to 8valve version injected if possible if carb best bet is to fit an SU conversion as once the standard carb starts
playing up they only good for paper weights

anything else ask away

didn't know it is hard to get a decent cheap SJ. Always fancied one myself - used to love driving them on vacation in the greek islands (bet there some cheap ones to be had there at moment :D ). Had one in the Caribbean too and loved using to get to parts of island away from folk, crashed that one though on Christmas eve :D

the guy I bought it off said it was an Offroad Armory bumper, the rear is defiently from them as it's got the sarge strips in it, it's not a winch bumper just a HD one with light bar

An yes it's Coney Green!!!
