What does this bit do? Disco II
« on: May 09, 2010, 19:41:12 »
Hi all

Quick question, and it may be a bit of a head slap moment   but

I noticed a fan spinning when i turn the ignition on behind the dash of my 2000 disco II. It comes on even when the climate control is turned off.

Futher investigations have revealed a fan mounted next to the head lamp adjust.

Now I don't remember any reference to this in the hand book, so thought i would try and tap the collective knowledge of this group.

Thanks in advance.

It's behind that grid thing next to headlight adjust mine does not have a fan n mines standard heating but the mrs had the climate control n hers has a fan I did wonder myself and I know that climate control needs to know internal and external temp to work right so I thought it could be the internal temprature sender but I could be wrong

Thanks for that.

I have spent the evening looking through RAVE, what an interesting life I lead!

Anyway it describes this as Air Temperature Sensor. 82.20.93

Just wonder why they need a fan to do this!?!? Ihave never noticed it in any other vehicle.

If there is is one on the drivers side, and the temperature can be controlled seperately between drivers and passangers side, is there one on the other side too?

It must have a fan no to move the air so it does not get hot or cold spots
I don't really get the 2 temp area it confuses me
I don't think there is a temp sensor in the passenger side

Driver can have a higher or lower temp than the passenger. Passenger side cannot be more than 5 degrees warmer  or colder
