14-16mpg on petrol On gas I've heard they are about the same if not slightly cheaper to run as a td5 and they do about 25 mpg it's not good but it's a 4x4 heaver than the moon and has the airodinamics of a garden shed so it's never goin to be good lol

Hi

I used to have a LPG disco, open system, with a single mixer rather than sequential injection. Crude, but it worked well....

I used to get about 2.5 miles per litre of normal driving. I never ran it long enough to know how many miles it did on petrol! (That works out at about 11.5mpg).

If the V8 is on the later EFi, (is it THOR or Genimi :-k) it might be better, P38s were an improvement on the RRC so I'd imagine the Disco being the same.

Poor economy is an ealry symptom of cam wear/cam chain wear BTW.

I don't know if auto box makes that much difference, my sister's TDi is better than ours and hers is the auto.  Both our V8s are similar too.

Let's be honest, it's a LR, they'll never be economical!

Surely LR3 & 4's must be getting around the 25 (if not more) average  :-k

Too true, my sister gets 30mpg on her 300TDi auto but drives it very sensibly.  I never get that kind of economy even when I try really hard to behave

assume 25mpg and you'll not be far wrong
